Charity Ncube

Charity graduated from Rhodes University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Industrial Sociology, Political studies and Journalism.

She started her career at the Lowvelder in 2004 as a journalist on the government portfolio. She also had a weekly column called “Culture Vulture” which she won a SANLAM Columnist Award for in 2005. In 2005, Charity ventured into broadcasting working for Urban Brew Studios. She gained great insights in production from planning a show, researching, shooting, editing and broadcasting.

An opportunity arose in 2008 at SABC to produce content and direct inserts for a health show. Charity was instrumental in formulating the structure and focus of the show. In 2009 she was a Co-Winner of the South African contest of the 2009 Novo Nordisk Media Prize. The prize was for the best diabetes feature. Founded in 2003, the Novo Nordisk Media Prize is an international award given for the best-written article published in the lay press and/or the best TV broadcast on diabetes. She was also nominated for the 2009 Mental Health Awards.
